Issue 3

Welcome to the third edition of the Industry Roundup! This monthly newsletter will provide you with a snapshot of news and developments directly impacting and shaping the lead gen industry.
FCC Moves Forward with Rulemaking
ICYMI, on March 16, the FCC finalized rules that require carriers to block robotext messages that are likely to be illegal. The agency noted that more rules might be on the way, including a proposal to clarify that Do Not Call Registry protections apply to text messaging. The Hill’s Scott Goodstein has an interesting take on the hypocrisy of this measure.
FCC Proposed Rules: The Industry Perspective
The latest rules were originally proposed on February 22. PACE’s Rob Seaver sat down with Michele Shuster, General Counsel, Mac Murray Shuster, LLC and Deborah Solmor, General Counsel & Corporate Secretary at TCS Education System for a comprehensive industry overview on the rules and what other actions from the FCC might lie ahead. DMS Acquires to Further Home Services Capabilities
On March 6, Digital Media Solutions announced an agreement to acquire, a digital marketplace that operates in high-value end markets such as roofing, windows and doors, bathrooms, kitchens, siding and gutters. “With this acquisition, we will be executing on our key strategic growth initiatives. We will be expanding our marketplace solutions to now include home services, a vertical which we believe will perform well in a down market as homeowners turn to renovating their homes as opposed to buying new homes. We will also be expanding our brand direct business internationally,” said Joe Marinucci, CEO of DMS.
